Gianmarco Pozzecco, in the long interview granted to italian journalist Andrea Barocci on Corriere dello Sport, also spoke about his experience with Asvel.
“The experience in Villeurbanne changed me a lot: I became even more convinced of the few but clear ideas I have about basketball. I am more aware of the direction I want to go in as a coach: to manage a team I believe it is essential to have players who have certain characteristics, and who possess a certain sporting ethic. It’s me who chooses my path, it’s essential for how I want to live basketball, in the knowledge that I’ve done what I think is right. On certain topics I don’t want to compromise’.
‘At Pesaro I approached my players totally conditioned by what happened to me in France. Needless to hide it: the suffering was considerable, if not unheard of. I have objective responsibilities, of course. Yet I always behave in the same way: I don’t let myself be conditioned. I was born on a basketball court: with any kind of teammates, I never thought of blaming anyone if the situation was not what I had hoped for. In any case, experiences, whether positive or negative, help you grow.”
