Olimpia Milano has appointed Gianmarco Pozzecco as an assistant coach of the team, completing the coaching staff that, under Head Coach Ettore Messina, still includes Mario Fioretti, Stefano Bizzozero and Marco Esposito.
“At this point of my career, the opportunity to work for Ettore Messina couldn’t come at a better time for me, I couldn’t ask for anything better than that – Gianmarzo Pozzecco said – I approach this journey with enthusiasm, humbleness and a strong sense of responsibility. My job will be the same job the other assistant coaches will have, to create the ideal conditions for the head coach to make the better decisions for the team.”
Gianmarco Pozzecco was born in Gorizia on September 15, 1972. As a player, he played in Udine, Livorno, Varese, Fortitudo Bologna, Zaragoza, Khimki Moscow, Capo d’Orlando. He won the 1999 Italian league championship in Varese. With the national team, he won the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics. He has coached in Capo d’Orlando, Varese, at Cedevita Zagreb (as Veljko Mrsic’s assistant), Fortitudo and Sassari where he’s won the 2019 FIBA Europe Cup and the 2019 Italian Super Cup.
