Generazione Vincente Napoli Basket announces that they have signed an agreement until the end of this football season with American athlete Markel Brown. The 190cm guard was born in Alexandria on January 29, 1992, and has also gained NBA experience in his career playing with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets.
After attending the University of Oklahoma State Cowboys for four years from 2010 to 2014, he was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and traded to the Brooklyn Nets where he played over 100 games in the NBA for two consecutive seasons. In 2016 his first experience in Europe with Khimki Moscow in the Russian league, before returning in the 2017/18 season back to the USA where he plays in the G-League with the Oklahoma City Blue, and with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, and accrues 4 more NBA appearances with Houston Rockets.
In the 2018/19 season he returns to Europe playing in the Turkish league with Darussafaka averaging 10.5 points per game, and a 40.7% three-point shooting percentage. He returns to prominence in the G-League again with the Oklahoma City Blue the following year where he plays 28 games with an average of 11.4 points per game, and over 40% shooting percentage from three.
He returns to Europe in the 2020/21 season playing in Israel with the Hapoel Heilat team, and averages 12.9 points per game.
Brown settles down in Europe, playing the 2021/22 championship in Belgium with the Antwerp Giants, and the following one in Italy with Varese Basketball where, along with his new teammates De Nicolao and Owens, he plays 29 games in Seria A, scoring almost 500 points with an average of 16.9 per game, and percentages of 39.3% in three-point shooting, and 42.4 from two. At the beginning of the season, he played 11 games in Spain with Girona.
