Germany completes perfect campaign for maiden World Cup triumph

Serbia goes down in a thrilling final in Manila. It’s Germany first-ever triumph in the competition with Dennis Schröder having a game high 28 points

Manila, Philippines – The Mall of Asia night belongs to Germany, who rewrites its basketball history in winning the country’s first ever FIBA World Cup. In its maiden final, Gordon Herbert’s squad prevails 83-77 after a tough battle against Serbia, pushed by thousands of fans in the stands. An outstanding Final matchup that comes after a tournament for the ages, with Germany led by Dennis Schröder’s 28 points performance.

Aleksa Avramović’s heroic performance (21 points including a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the final quarter) weren’t enough for Serbia as they suffered also Ognjen Dobrić’s ankle injury early in the game. Germany also had 19 points from Franz Wagner and 12 points, 8 rebounds from Johannes Voigtmann while Serbia had 17 points from Bogdan Bogdanović, but only 2 in the second half also because of foul trouble.
