Olympiacos are European champions for the fourth time in club history. The Reds defeated Real Madrid 90-85 in the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four final at the Telekom Center Athens, lifting the trophy after a hard-fought battle.
After the triumph, Georgios Bartzokas admitted how much his team had to suffer: “We feel wonderful. We deserved it. We suffered tonight. Real Madrid played a perfect game. That is why they are a huge club.”
The Greek coach also stressed the pressure Olympiacos had to carry: “We managed to win even though all the pressure was on our shoulders. I think we deserve it for the way we played all season, in the playoffs and at the Final Four.”
Bartzokas also explained the adjustment on Trey Lyles: “That is what we said at halftime. We talked about the adjustment on Lyles. We switched on him. Sometimes we trapped him.” He also praised Real Madrid: “Scariolo and all the players, in this atmosphere, played very well.”
