Georgios Bartzokas kept a low profile after Olympiacos defeated Fenerbahce and advanced to the EuroLeague final. The Greek coach praised his players and the fans, but stressed that it was only the first step of the weekend.
“Congratulations to the players and our fans for this performance. It was the first step in this process, in this weekend. It was important to play together, as a team. We did it from the beginning, we played hard defense and in the end we were solid defensively for 40 minutes,” Bartzokas said.
He also explained the key to the game: “When we controlled our emotions, we moved the ball and found opportunities for open shots.” On Walkup, he added: “He set the rhythm, you saw him sacrifice himself on every possession to stop his opponent.”
Bartzokas refused to get carried away: “I don’t like using big words. It is too early to say if this is the best version of Olympiacos. We are not arrogant. We are happy and satisfied, but for now let’s focus on the next game.” On Fournier, he said: “He always plays with his heart. He is a leader, he is emotional.”
