Georgia Complete Stunning Overtime Comeback Against Spain

Georgia closed the First Round with a statement win; Spain, already qualified, suffered their first loss and finished Group A at 5-1

Georgia produced one of the biggest wins of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, edging Spain 91-89 after overtime in Tbilisi. The hosts trailed by as many as 22 points in the third quarter, with Spain in control at 42-64.

From there, Georgia mounted a remarkable comeback, tying the game late in regulation and carrying the momentum into overtime. Tornike Shengelia delivered a monster performance with 37 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and a 37 efficiency rating in more than 44 minutes.
