Iceland beat Lithuania 86-85 at Laugardalsholl on Elvar Fridriksson’s buzzer-beater, with the guard pouring in 34 points (4 rebounds, 6 assists, 6/7 from three); Lithuania were led by Marek Blazevic 19 and Azuolas Tubelis 16. The only other Iceland player in double figures was Tryggvi Hlinason with 14.
Lithuania looked in full control after a 24-11 third quarter, stretching the lead to +21 with 7:12 remaining. It appeared to be a comfortable road win.
Instead, Iceland ripped off a 30-8 run to turn the game around and then finished it at the horn through Fridriksson. The win lifts Iceland to 2-1, tying Italy at the top while holding the head-to-head edge.
