Maxima Roma president Paul Matiasic stressed that Totti’s role will not be merely symbolic, underlining the importance of the former Roma captain’s involvement in the club’s new project.

Maxima Roma is counting on the most recognizable sporting figure in the city to help build a strong following around the new club, which will play its home games at the Palazzo dello Sport in the EUR district.

Former Italy and Lazio striker Ciro Immobile will also be involved in promoting the club, although he will not hold an official position.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Totti’s three-year contract would be worth more than €1 million per season.
