According to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian basketball federation (FIP) is considering games without fans in the stands, at least in the first part of the season, in the new protocol for the 2020-21 campaign.

The protocol estimates extra costs of 10,000 euros per month for each Serie A team for testing players and coaches every four days, sanitizing arenas and taking all the needed precautions for road trips. Teams shall also undergo serological tests prior to preseason tournaments, the SuperCup in August and before the start of the regular season.
