Finland secured a spot in the Round of 16 at EuroBasket with an 85-65 win over Montenegro in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,900 in Tampere. After a balanced first quarter tied at 23-23, the hosts took control with a decisive 12-1 run, highlighted by a dunk and a spin move from Markkanen. From there, they never looked back.
The Finnish star delivered a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds, going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. Jantunen added 11 points, while Salin and Maxhuni chipped in with 10 each. For Montenegro, still winless, Slavkovic scored 15 and Drobnjak had 14.
With this victory, Finland are guaranteed a top-four finish in Group B and now turn their focus to the clash against Lithuania. Montenegro must find at least one win in their remaining games against Sweden and Great Britain to keep qualification hopes alive.
