FIBA has released its latest power ranking ahead of EuroBasket 2025. Gianmarco Pozzecco’s Italy has dropped two spots after previously being ranked sixth. Greece, on the other hand, made a big leap forward, moving from eighth to fourth place. The podium remains unchanged. Below is the evaluation on the Azzurri.
FIBA’s take on Italy: “Two losses since the last time we checked in. Two places lower, simple.
Looking closer, the first half against Greece was really special: in Athens they built a 10-point lead, with Simone Fontecchio pushing it to 13 before halftime.
You never get the feeling he’s forcing things, nor that he’s playing a spectacular game, and then you look at the numbers and think: ‘Hey, don’t forget about this guy when you talk about potential MVP candidates.”
