After Fenerbahce Beko defeated Anadolu Efes 79–62, head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius highlighted the impact of the atmosphere in the arena and his team’s defensive effort.
He congratulated both the team and the fans, stressing how enjoyable it is to play in a sold-out building and calling that energy the exact motivation they were looking for. Tactically, Jasikevicius felt Fenerbahce started “a bit sloppy,” but pointed to the first quarter as the key stretch that shaped the game.
He acknowledged Efes’ attempts to come back in certain moments, yet emphasized that Fenerbahce ultimately handled the game and secured the win. The main takeaway, he said, was the defense — especially against Efes’ size and physicality.
“I congratulate the team and our fans. Playing sold out in this arena is truly enjoyable and a great feeling. The motivation we were looking for is exactly this.
I think we started the game a bit sloppy. If we look at the game overall, the first quarter was the decider. Of course, there were certain stretches where Anadolu Efes tried to come back, but in the end we knew how to win.
Today we put in a good defensive performance. Doing that against Anadolu Efes’ big and very physical players is not easy. My team fought well.”
