Federico Fucà explained to Gazzetta di Reggio how he joined Colombia’s coaching staff. “Echenique told me that the national team might be interested in a European coach. I made myself available and was contacted first by federation president Tejada and then by head coach Tomas Diaz.”
The Pallacanestro Reggiana assistant, who previously worked with Gianmarco Pozzecco on Italy’s staff, immediately accepted the proposal. “It is a great and exciting opportunity. Working with people from a completely different culture and with a group that has been together for some time will be highly enriching.”
Fucà will have specific responsibilities. “Diaz asked me to bring my game-preparation and scouting system, as well as my defensive principles. I think defense will be the area I work on the most.” Reggiana center Jaime Echenique is also with Colombia’s national team.
