EuroLeague has rejected the NBA offer but talks remain open, while a decision on expansion from 20 to 24 teams was also postponed

EuroLeague has rejected the NBA’s proposal, but discussions between the two sides are reportedly still open. According to ANSA, no decision was made either on expanding the competition from 20 to 24 teams.

The NBA proposal was rejected during the club owners’ meeting in Cernobbio. However, ANSA reports, citing qualified sources, that dialogue between EuroLeague and the NBA remains open.

Another sign of that is the fact that EuroLeague did not formally approve its planned expansion from 20 to 24 teams or the creation of new franchises, despite shareholders being in favor of the project. The move leaves EuroLeague with more room to negotiate as discussions continue over the future structure of European basketball.
