EuroLeague is preparing to open disciplinary proceedings against Dubai BC over the club’s handling of the Thomas Walkup situation. According to Gazzetta.gr, there are two aspects that have come under scrutiny from the competition’s organizers.
The first concerns the club’s approach to the player, which reportedly took place outside the window permitted by the regulations, under which a team can approach a player during the final 60 days of his contract. The second relates to comments made by Dubai general manager Dejan Kamenjašević, who confirmed the club’s attempt to sign the 34-year-old and referred to Olympiacos.
According to Gazzetta.gr, the situation is particularly significant given Dubai’s plans to obtain a permanent EuroLeague license and become an ECA shareholder.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Walkup and Olympiacos is reportedly at an all-time low, with the player having challenged his contract and requested his release from the Piraeus club.
