Euroleague Playoffs: AS Monaco edges Barcelona in Game 5, advances to the Final Four

AS Monaco returns to the Euroleague Final Four

Monaco clinched a thrilling 85-84 win in Game 5 of the Euroleague playoff series, securing their ticket to the Final Four in Abu Dhabi.
After a tightly contested first half, Barcelona relied on Fall and Hernangomez early in the second, while Monaco got a huge boost from Papagiannis — the true X factor, coming into the game with zero points in the entire series — who scored the basket for 81-78 with three minutes to go.

Tension was sky-high. After a 4-0 run by the visitors, Strazel put Monaco back in front by one. Punter hit both free throws, James answered, then both teams missed crucial shots. In the final seconds, Punter had the three-point attempt that would have sent Barcelona to Abu Dhabi — but missed.

Mike James led the way with 20 points and 5 assists, while Papagiannis added 17 points (7/8 FG) and 5 rebounds. Blossomgame made his presence felt with 9 points and 6 boards. Strazel also stood out with 11 points, 4 assists, and 6 fouls drawn.

For Barcelona, who came just a step away from a stunning comeback after being down 0-2 in the series, strong performances from Punter (19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Anderson (16 points, 4 assists, 6/9 FG). Fall ended with a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds), while Hernangomez contributed 16 points and drew 8 fouls.

AS Monaco will face Olympiacos in the semifinals.
