EuroLeague has opened a disciplinary procedure against Dubai Basketball in connection with the Thomas Walkup case. According to Eurohoops, citing official competition sources, the investigation will examine comments made by general manager Dejan Kamenjasevic.
Kamenjasevic publicly acknowledged Dubai’s interest in Walkup, which could constitute a breach of EuroLeague regulations given the player’s contractual situation. The competition is also gathering further information regarding Walkup’s agreement with Olympiacos.
Walkup has submitted a written request for his immediate release, while Olympiacos has opened its own disciplinary procedure against him. Any new club would need to request international clearance from FIBA, while potential financial disputes could ultimately be referred to the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal.
