Zalgiris Kaunas head coach Kazys Maksvytis confirms a change in the EuroLeague’s coach challenge rule for the 2023-24 season. Coaches will now be allowed to use two challenges instead of one. Maksvytis revealed the update during an interview with Zalgiris TV ahead of a friendly tournament in Cyprus.
The change aims to reduce the number of opportunities referees have to stop the clock, ensuring games don’t last too long. This comes a week after EuroLeague introduced a new officiating procedure, where referees meet with team captains before each game to discuss rules and sportsmanship.
