EuroLeague, licensing issue: Motiejunas seeks clarity, Virtus Bologna hopes

The words of Paulius Motiejunas on the composition of the upcoming EuroLeague season: these are his words on short-term and long-term licenses.

Paulius Motiejunas wants clarity on the composition of the next EuroLeague and spoke about the short- and long-term licensing issue at the usual press conference during the Final Four in Berlin. These are his statements.

Motiejunas’ words: “We have to look at the issue in the short and long term: in the short term, as mentioned, we have 5 clubs and Paris, which will take the place of one of these 5 clubs for one year. After that, we are definitely looking at a long-term project. We are not analyzing to have more fixed seats and more shareholders, the 3 or 5 wildcard model is more appropriate to monetize and continue to grow. This is the idea that we shared with the clubs. As for Virtus, we had a meeting and I saw the Arena project – it is amazing what they are trying to do. They have great ownership and competent people, it is proving to be a EuroLeague level club and they deserve the opportunity to be there. That goes for other clubs as well, of course”.
