Turkish Airlines EuroLeague’s 3,000-point club has its newest member. Alexey Shved of CSKA Moscow became the 10th player in competition history to reach the milestone on Friday night. Shved was also the second-fastest scorer to reach 3,000.
One of the most magnetic scorers in EuroLeague history, Shved joined this exclusive club when he downed his eighth point of the night on a fourth-quarter free throw on Friday as CSKA defeated visiting ALBA Berlin 91-72.
Shved reached the 3,000 career points plateau in just 186 appearances, a single game shy of the record held by Nando De Colo of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, but one game faster than Mike James of AS Monaco, who passed the same mark in Round 22.
Shved, a EuroLeague champion in 2008 with CSKA, is in his seventh EuroLeague season with CSKA, but the majority of his point production came in five seasons with Khimki Moscow Region. That includes the 2017-18 campaign, when he set the EuroLeague single-season record with 740 points.
The 10th player to make it to 3000 point club!
