With two minutes remaining, Santi Aldama drained a three-pointer to tie the game at 62-62, but Italy held their composure at the free-throw line to secure the win.
Saliou Niang suffered an ankle injury after an impressive performance of 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 15 minutes. Khadim Diouf finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Ricci added 11 points and 5 boards.
For Spain, strong efforts from De Larrea (15 points, 7 rebounds) and Aldama (19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists) weren’t enough to avoid defeat.
