At Olimpia Milano’s press conference, coach Ettore Messina spoke about his future, Peppe Poeta, and more. During the meeting, concerns arose over Serbian star Marko Guduric, who returned from EuroBasket 2025 with tendinitis.
Ettore Messina on Guduric: “He came back with a rather significant tendinitis. Now we’ll see, but we need to proceed very cautiously.”
The Milan coach also addressed the situations of Stefano Tonut, who is also dealing with a physical issue but with more positive updates, and Vlatko Cancar.
Ettore Messina on Stefano Tonut: “He still hasn’t practiced basketball, because he came back with this injury. However, he has now resumed doing some intense individual workouts. If all goes well, in a couple of days he should join the team. It would be nice to have him play a few minutes on Saturday in Brescia; otherwise, it will be next week.”
On Vlatko Cancar: “When I was in Treviso, Maurizio Gherardini created a philosophy of finding players who were coming off situations like this and then regenerating them, keeping them for a few years at a high level. This kid has enormous potential, which he showed before. It seems he is recovering well from the very serious injury he suffered, and we believe he can return to being the player he was before. He’s still young. If he manages it and we can help him, we’ve acquired a truly interesting player. We’ll see along the way.”
