Ettore Messina and Sergio Scariolo on the Same Page: No Rotation for the Playoffs

Ettore Messina and Sergio Scariolo, the coaches of EuroLeague's Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna respectively, are in agreement

Ettore Messina and Sergio Scariolo, the coaches of EuroLeague’s Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna respectively, are in agreement: there will be no rotation in the playoffs.

The mantra “no rotation” rings true for both Messina and Scariolo. This is the intent for the two EuroLeague teams in Italian league.

In the Olimpia Milano camp, Brandon Davies and Kevin Pangos remain on the sidelines, as do Naz Mitrou-Long, Deshaun Thomas, Davide Alviti, and Tim Luwawu-Cabarrot.

The same goes for Virtus Bologna, where Ismael Bako, Kyle Weems, and Iffe Lundberg are merely participatory spectators on the sidelines, nothing more.

Ettore Messina spoke about this in the press room after Olimpia Milano’s Game-2 victory over Pesaro, even though the press did not question him about it: “Being physically better and, unfortunately, having come to terms with the choices, because I don’t forget that there are important players out. However, frequent changes can sow doubt. Some players are obviously upset, but they are dealing with it professionally, while others are more at ease.”

At Segafredo Arena, Virtus Bologna beat Brindisi and took a 2-0 lead. This was Sergio Scariolo’s response: “There will be no rotation in Game 3 unless the medical staff advises me otherwise.”
