Olimpia Milano coach Ettore Messina during an interview with Basket On-ER on Icaro TV spoke about the rumblings on the interest in Barcellona forward Nikola Mirotic :
“Nikola Mirotic is one of the top five players in Europe right now. It is proven by his palmares, his contract… We cannot compete with other interested clubs.. Olympiacs, if they lose Vezenkov, will have the money from Vezenkov’s contract that they didn’t use, plus the big buyout from the Sacramento Kings. They can make an offer on the level of what Barcelona was paying.
“Efes, Fener, the Panathinaikos that suddenly seems to have found great desire to spend again. So we are talking about other things. Then I think it’s crucial to see how Mirotic and his agents will resolve his current contract with Barcelona. I really don’t think that he can be a target for a club, even one as important as ours. We cannot compete, not only on Mirotic, with Fener, Efes, the two football clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid … we just can’t.”
