Spoelstra will replace Steve Kerr

According to ESPN, USA Basketball is set to name Erik Spoelstra, head coach of the Miami Heat, as the new head coach of Team USA.

Spoelstra will replace Steve Kerr and lead Team USA through the 2027 FIBA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, after serving as the lead assistant on the gold medal–winning staff in Paris.

Entering his 18th season at the helm of the Heat, Spoelstra will become the fourth different head coach to guide Team USA in as many Olympic cycles, following Mike Krzyzewski (2016), Gregg Popovich (2021), and Steve Kerr (2024).
