Ergin Ataman clarified that Panathinaikos will not buy a new player and stressed that Dinos Mitoglou will cover the role of center.
“We will not make any acquisitions. Our roster is sufficient. I will give more responsibility in the role of ‘5’ to Mitoglou, who is much better than the players currently available on the market. We will go ahead with this and wait for the return of Yurtseven in 3-4 weeks and then Lessort.
At this stage of the season I do not want to add a new player unless he is really outstanding, and so far we have not found anyone up to the mark. Also, some players we evaluated were only available at astronomical prices imposed by their clubs. We will not pay certain buyout clauses for players who have not yet proven their worth at the highest level in the Euroleague.”
