Dwane Casey will not become the head coach of Rome’s new Serie A team. According to Marc Stein, the Detroit Pistons adviser has withdrawn from the process after strong interest from the Italian club.
Casey has decided to stay in the NBA with Detroit, ending a high-profile pursuit by the Rome-based organization. The former Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons head coach was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2018.
According to Stein, Donnie Nelson led BC Roma’s pursuit of Casey, having previously worked with him in Dallas. Rome will now have to continue its search for the coach who will lead the team in the upcoming season.
