Ivkovic was known as one of the most important coaches in European and world basketball.
As a player, Dusan Ivkovic played from 1958 to 1968 for Radnicki Belgrade.
After he became a coach and guided twelve basketball clubs, also coached Yugoslavia and Serbia national teams.
In 2008, he was named one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors.
Ivkovic was elected to the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2017.
