Dreamland Gran Canaria have officially announced the appointment of Néstor “Che” García as the new head coach of the first team until the end of the season. The Argentine coach will lead the yellow side through the final nine Liga Endesa games.
Born in Bahía Blanca on January 11, 1965, García brings extensive experience from both club and national-team basketball, having coached in Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, and with the national teams of Argentina, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. His résumé also includes the 2015 AmeriCup title with Venezuela and qualification for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
He already made an impact in Spanish basketball with Montakit Fuenlabrada in 2017-18, delivering the best start in club history in Liga Endesa and taking the team to the 2018 Copa del Rey. Gran Canaria added that García will arrive on Thursday and be introduced to the media on Friday morning.
