Donaldas Kairys opts out of his deal with Avtodor Saratov.
The 43-year-old Lithuanian took over as head coach early in February. His deal ran up to the conclusion of the 2020-21 season with the opt-out clause he has activated. Kairys guided his side to beat Tmoki Minsk at home and to lose two road games in Zielona Gora and Khimki.
“I am truly thankful for the trust shown and opportunity to work in BC Avtodor. I enjoyed working in Saratov and was happy to be part of the club. I wish Avtodor a success and the best of luck in all of its future endeavors.”
The coach will join Rytas Vilnius.
Donaldas Kairys is leaving Avtodor Saratov and is expected to be officially announced soon as the new head coach of Rytas Vilnius, according to sources.
