DJ Steward has officially left Dolomiti Energia Trento. According to Corriere del Trentino, the American guard exercised the opt-out clause included in the two-year deal he signed last summer, ending his time with the Italian club one year early.
Steward played 53 games for Trento in his first European season, averaging 15.3 points per game. His offensive talent was clear, highlighted by a 38-point performance against Virtus Bologna in Game 5 of the playoff quarterfinals, although his year also featured inconsistency and defensive issues.
His future is expected to be in Spain, with Saski Baskonia mentioned as his likely next destination. The move would give Steward the chance to test himself in EuroLeague after his debut season in European basketball.
