The Detroit Pistons earned a 130-117 road win over the Washington Wizards, but Cade Cunningham left Tuesday night’s game with back spasms.
The two-time All-Star, mentioned among the NBA MVP race leaders, exited in the opening quarter.
Cunningham was hurt early in the first quarter while diving for a loose ball and colliding with Wizards guard Tre Johnson.
He took time to get up, played a few more minutes, then was removed at the 6:40 mark.
Detroit said during the second quarter he would not return, and J.B. Bickerstaff had no update afterward: “I don’t have enough information.”
Cunningham is averaging 25 points, 10 assists and 5.6 rebounds; he had six points and two rebounds in 5:20 before leaving.
