The Denver Nuggets are making moves. According to ESPN, they have traded Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cameron Johnson.
Porter, who averaged 18.2 points and 7 rebounds last season, leaves Denver after six seasons and a championship, bringing to Brooklyn a career 40% three-point shooter.
In return, Denver adds Johnson, who enjoyed a breakout year with the Nets, averaging 18.8 points while shooting 39% from deep. The trade helps the Nuggets reduce their payroll and opens up the use of a $14.1 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception. They have also re-signed Bruce Brown on a one-year veteran minimum deal.
This is the first major move under Denver’s new front office and head coach David Adelman as they look to retool around Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray after last season’s playoff exit against Oklahoma City.
