Nikola Jokic suffered a left knee injury just before halftime of the Miami Heat’s 147-123 win over the Denver Nuggets. He was not on the floor for the second half and will have an MRI on Tuesday.
The play: Jokic stepped in to help defend a drive, then Spencer Jones stepped on Jokic’s left foot as he backtracked, and his knee appeared to buckle. Jokic collapsed, grabbed at his knee, and later walked to the locker room under his own power with a pronounced limp.
Coach David Adelman said, “Immediately, he knew something was wrong,” adding the team will “go through the process properly.” Denver is set to fly to Toronto for Wednesday’s game against the Raptors, already missing Christian Braun, Aaron Gordon and Cameron Johnson.
