Deni Avdija: “Portland wasn’t willing to risk my health”

The Israeli star explained why he missed the August window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

Deni Avdija has addressed his absence from Israel’s August games in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Israel, now 2-6 in Group I, have been eliminated from contention.

As reported by Eurohoops, the Portland Trail Blazers forward explained that he dealt with a complex back injury during the summer: “Portland wasn’t willing to take a risk with my health, and I simply didn’t have the option to play.”

Avdija also rejected any questions about his commitment to the national team, noting that he previously represented Israel while dealing with physical issues and expressing his desire to return once healthy.
