Deni Avdija could become a free agent in the summer of 2028. According to CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn, there is a “very good chance” that the player will be available on the market due to the Portland Trail Blazers’ salary-cap situation.
“The Blazers are kind of a sinking ship. They are not setting themselves up to preserve the cap space they’re gonna need to renegotiate and extend Deni Avdija,” Quinn wrote.
Avdija’s current contract, which represents significant value for Portland, could therefore complicate the team’s plans for a future extension. The Blazers will need to manage their salary cap carefully if they want to retain Avdija long term.
