Daron Russell returns to Turkey, signs with Anadolu Efes

The American point guard heads back to the Turkish league after winning three titles in Romania and finishing as the EuroCup’s leading scorer last season.

Daron Russell has officially signed with a Anadolu Efes Istanbul for the 2026-27 season.

The American guard arrives after an outstanding campaign with U-BT Cluj-Napoca, helping the Romanian side win the league title, the Romanian Cup and the Romanian SuperCup while also being named Finals MVP.

A dominant EuroCup campaign

Russell also starred in the EuroCup, averaging 19.8 points, 6.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He finished as the competition’s leading scorer and earned a spot on the All-EuroCup Second Team.

Back to familiar territory

A professional since 2022, Russell first burst onto the European scene with Mornar Bar, where he led the ABA League in both scoring (26.8 points per game) and assists (7.3) during his rookie season. He also set the league’s single-game scoring record with 47 points.

The 2026-27 season marks his return to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray, Manisa and Karşıyaka.
