Daniel Theis is moving closer to Maccabi Tel Aviv. According to Sport5, the German center has agreed terms with the Israeli club on a two-year contract worth $2.2 million per season.
Maccabi are now waiting for Theis’ official release from ASVEL, where he had signed earlier this summer and is expected to leave because of the French club’s financial difficulties. The Israeli club reportedly moved quickly after high-profile players became available from Villeurbanne, offering Theis the starting center role.
For Theis, this would be his third EuroLeague stop after Bamberg and Monaco, where he played over the last season and a half. Last season, he averaged 9.7 points on 69.2 percent shooting and 5 rebounds per game, including 1.7 offensive boards, with his season-high 17 points coming against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
