D’Angelo Russell opts into $6 million player option with Wizards

D’Angelo Russell has opted into his $6 million player option with the Washington Wizards for the 2026-27 season.

The guard will remain under contract with Washington for another year. During the 2025-26 season, Russell appeared in 26 games, averaging 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 19.2 minutes per game.

He shot 50.8% from two-point range, 29.5% from three and 71.7% from the free-throw line, while also adding 0.5 steals per game.

For the Wizards, Russell’s return provides experience, ball-handling and offensive creation in the backcourt heading into next season.
