D’Angelo Russell heads to China, joins Shanghai Sharks

D’Angelo Russell is leaving the NBA for the first overseas experience of his career

D’Angelo Russell guard reached an agreement with Shanghai after being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies last week. Russell had exercised his $5 million player option before being moved from Washington to Memphis in a six-team trade.

Last season with the Dallas Mavericks, he averaged 10.2 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds across 26 games. The former No. 2 overall pick was named an NBA All-Star in 2019 with the Brooklyn Nets.

Russell has also played for the Lakers, Warriors and Timberwolves, averaging 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists over 655 NBA regular-season games.
