Dallas Mavericks part ways with Jason Kidd after five seasons

Jason Kidd is out as head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, with the team describing the move as a mutual decision.

According to ESPN, Kidd leaves Dallas after five seasons with a 205-205 overall record and a 22-18 playoff mark. Under his leadership, the Mavericks reached the Western Conference Finals in 2022 and the NBA Finals in 2024.

New president Masai Ujiri will have full authority in choosing the next head coach. “We believe this is the right moment for a new direction,” Ujiri said.

The decision comes after a 26-56 season, no playoff berth and the major rebuild that followed the Luka Doncic trade and the arrival of Cooper Flagg as the new foundation of the franchise.
