Finally, after 32 years and various attempts, the long-awaited construction of the new sports hall in Cantù seems to be becoming a reality.
This very important breakthrough comes after the uninhabitability of the historic ‘Pianella’ in 2016, which forced the famous Pallacanestro Cantù to play away in Desio.
Pallacanestro Cantù is a historic European basketball club. With less than 40,000 inhabitants, just a few steps from Como, the small city of Cantù has written important pages with 3 Scudetti, 2 Coppa Intercontinental, 2 EuroLeague, 4 Cup Winners’ Cups and 4 Korac Cups.
Today, the Province of Como awarded the commission to design and build the ‘Casa del Basket’, the future multipurpose hall that will become the team’s new home.
The concession, worth 34.5 million euros, was awarded to the Cantù Next spa group, a consortium that includes Pallacanestro Cantù and several private operators.
