The cost of the Kawhi Leonard-Paul George era has reached extraordinary proportions following the NBA investigation. As summarized by The Athletic, the Clippers surrendered a combined 10 first-round picks, two pick swaps, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari.
The sporting cost was accompanied by the league’s $30 million fine. Five of those first-rounders were traded for George in 2019, while the NBA stripped Los Angeles of another five.
In return, the Clippers received Leonard, George and a 2025 first-round pick. The project, however, failed to produce an NBA Finals appearance.
