Clippers: Chris Paul “sent home,” brought Brook Lopez in as support in meeting with Frank

The meeting happened “around 11 p.m.” inside Frank’s hotel room at the Four Seasons, where Frank told Chris Paul the team planned to “send Paul home.” Frank also said he hoped to coordinate how the statement would be announced and that he hoped the team could “still retire Paul’s jersey one day.”

Paul was “stunned,” sources said, and tried to “plead his case.” At one point, he brought teammate Brook Lopez into the room as “something of a character witness,” with the report noting Lopez and Kawhi Leonard were “Paul’s most ardent supporters on the team.”

Paul reminded Frank he had asked him to facilitate another meeting with Tyronn Lue and “that hadn’t happened.” Frank acknowledged it, “but held firm,” and the report closes with: “The decision had been made.”
