Khalifa Diop could leave Baskonia to join the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Ohio franchise acquired his NBA rights after he was selected with the 39th pick in the 2022 draft.
According to El Correo, Cleveland is prepared to offer the Senegalese big man a contract worth around $1.5 million. Baskonia would be willing to release Diop despite his existing contract.
No agreement has been finalized, with financial terms still to be settled and Diop expected to travel to the United States for medical examinations. His departure would leave Kenneth Faried as Baskonia’s only center and force the club to add two frontcourt players.
