Anadolu Efes forward Chris Singleton suggested a March Madness format in order to complete the EuroLeague season. That means playing a tournament with knock-out games.
We have 3 host cities.
We use 2 cities for the first weekend of games and then the 3rd host city for the Final4.
Since the top2 teams right now are Efes and Madrid, we pick those cites or a city in their country, that is the safest for teams and production personnel, as hosts.— Sing (@C_SING31) March 21, 2020
Singleton suggested splitting the 18 teams into two groups, one for each side of the bracket. The first group plays in one city, the second group plays in the other city. For each of the two groups, the eighth and ninth seeds play an extra game.
“You will play Thursday and Saturday or play Friday and Sunday. The #8 vs #9 game will be played Tuesday or wednesday depending on the 1st seed’s play date.”
Ok in all of these games their will be no fans unless this pandemic outright disappears.
People allowed :are teams players & team personnel, camera crews, and some media outlets.
Streaming rights goes to Owners preferred media outlet and Euroleague has right to sell to 1 more!— Sing (@C_SING31) March 21, 2020
This would happen over 2 weekends in middle to late may.
Teams get 14-17 days of preparation and quarantine— Sing (@C_SING31) March 21, 2020
