The Chicago Bulls waived Jaden Ivey on Monday, saying the move was made because of conduct detrimental to the team. The decision came only hours after the guard posted a social media rant that included anti-gay remarks and extended comments on religion.

Ivey, 24, had joined Chicago shortly before the trade deadline and had already been ruled out for the rest of the season because of injury. Head coach Billy Donovan pointed to the organization’s standards of professionalism and mutual respect when addressing the situation.
