James Harden was arrested in Houston and later released after posting a $100 bond, according to court records

Cleveland Cavaliers guard James Harden was arrested early Saturday morning in Houston and charged with misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to ESPN.

Per Harris County court records, Harden was taken into custody at 3:41 a.m. after a handgun was observed on the seat of a car owned by Harden. The gun was reportedly not holstered and was in plain view.

Harden was booked at 4:57 a.m. and later released after posting a $100 bond. The Cavaliers were gathering facts about the incident before issuing an official comment.

The 36-year-old guard could become a free agent at the end of the month. He has a $42 million player option decision due by June 29, with $13.3 million guaranteed. Harden averaged 19.2 points and 5.5 assists during Cleveland’s playoff run to the Eastern Conference Finals.
