Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, Caldwell-Pope recalled experiencing similar occasions that ended with a loss after the celebrations.

“I’m not looking at it that way, but it’s always fun competition when you can. I’ve had a few ruin my nights before, it’s not fun,” he said. He then added: “If it’s their ring night, they’ve gotta take the first loss.”
